Stelmax Contact Glue Clear

Stelmax Contact Glue Clear

Stelmax 1985 Adhesive is an easily applied PVC resin and solvent-based mix that bonds readily to form maintenance-free joints of exceptional strength when used to bond plasticised and rigid PVC and ABS. 1985 Adhesive is used extensively within the window industry for the installation of frames and attachments and is particularly suitable where bonding is only possible over small and narrow surface areas. When dry, the product will exhibit weathering, UV, and chemical resistance similar to that of a good-quality rigid PVC. 1985 Adhesive is primarily available in both Clear and White format, with other colours available on request. For all enquiries, please refer to the contact details listed. This product is an ADHESIVE and is not designed to be used as a gap filler and thus exhibits no gap filling properties that are characteristic with Stelmax gap filler sealants, This product should also not be used in conjunction with activators. Due to the many applications and variety of substrates on the market, it is the end user's sole responsibility to ensure that this product is suitable for its intended application and the product compatibility with all materials; information in this publication and otherwise supplied to users is based on our general experience and is given in good faith, but because of the many particular factors which are outside our knowledge and control and which may affect the use of these products, no warranty is given or is implied concerning such information, Stelmax Limited reserves the right to alter specifications without prior notice at any time, as our policy is one of constant improvement. DIRECTIONS FOR USE Ensure the surfaces to which the adhesive is applied are clean and dry. Before application, clean all areas with Stelmax PVC Ultraclean or Thinners & Cleaning Fluid. Remove the cap from the 1985 135gm tube, invert and pierce the sealed membrane, Attach the tapered applicator nozzle and trim the nozzle to the desired aperture using a sharp knife. Run a continuous thin film of adhesive to one surface only, bring both surfaces together immediately, and keep them under light pressure; when bonding very flexible material, maintain pressure for a few seconds, extending to several minutes with rigid PVC; adheres almost immediately on contact, although, the quantity applied, as well as the temperature and weather conditions, will primarily determine the curing process at the time of application. Remove any excess material immediately with either Stelmax PVC Ultraclean or Thinners & Cleaning Fluid. To retain the product in a usable condition, seal the end of the nozzle with polythene or replace the tube cap after use and when the tube is empty. SAFETY DATA SHEET IDENTIFICATION OF PREPARATION Adhesive 1985 COMPOSITION INFORMATION Tetrahydrofuran <75% HAZARDS IDENTIFICATIONHighly flammable solutions may form explosive peroxides. Solution irritating to eyes and respiratory system.  FIRST-AID MEASURES EYE CONTACT. It is an irritant. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical aid.  SKIN CONTACT. It may irritate or be absorbed through the skin, causing systemic effects. If spilt on the skin, wipe off excess and wash with soap and water. INHALATION. It is irritated and may cause narcosis and systemic effects. Avoid high concentrations and ventilate the area well. If affected by vapour, move to fresh air and seek medical aid if symptoms persist.  INGESTION. In case of ingestion, wash your mouth with water and give it plenty to drink. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention immediately. If unconscious, turn to the side.  FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES EXTINGUISHING MEDIA. Alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or vaporising liquid. Earth/sand for small fires.  UNSUITABLE EXTINGUISHING MEDIA Water jet.  FIRE & EXPLOSION HAZARDS / HARMFUL COMBUSTION PRODS. The vapours readily form ignitable and explosive mixtures with air at average temperatures. The vapour is heavier than air and may travel along the ground; hence, distant ignition is possible. Incomplete combustion may generate toxic fumes of carbon monoxide. It may form organic peroxides.  SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES Keep containers cool with water spray. Self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing should be worn ( See exposure control).  ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES EYE PROTECTION Goggles if risk of splashing. SKIN PROTECTION Solvent-resistant gloves, neoprene or nitrile rubber.  VENTILATION Good local.  RESPIRATORY PROTECTION Vapour respirator if there is no ventilation.  SPILLAGE OR LEAK PROCEDURES Absorb on sand or earth. Extinguish all sources of ignition.  Ventilate area. Do not allow to enter drains.  HANDLING & STORAGE  Avoid all sources of ignition, including sparks, flames, electrical equipment, arc lights, and static discharges.  No smoking.  Keep containers tightly dosed, away from oxidizing agents.  Store at moderate room temperature in closed containers.  EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMIT EH 40/2001  Component    LTEL    STEL Tetrahydrofuran    100 ppm    200 ppm SK ( can be absorbed through the skin) PERSONAL PROTECTION  Avoid inhaling vapour.  Avoid contact with skin and eyes.  Eye baths should be provided in places where exposure may be possible.  Wear chemical-resistant goggles, solvent-resistant gloves (neoprene or nitrile rubber), impervious boots, and polycotton overalls.  If high vapour concentrations are present, use a self-contained breathing apparatus or a full-face respirator with an organic vapour cartridge NPF 20. Ensure good ventilation.  PHYSICAL & CHEMICAL PROPERTIES APPEARANCE / ODOUR Viscous solution of PVC resins in Tetrahydrofuran solvent with characteristic ethereal odour.  pH N/A.  BOILING POINT" 65 - 67 °C  MELTING POINT N/A FLASHPOINT -27°C  FLAMMABLE / EXPLOSIVE LIMITS LEL 1.8 % (v/v) UEL 11.8 % (v/v)  AUTO FLAMMABILITY 324°C  OXIDIZING PROPERTIES None VAPOUR PRESSURE N/A  SPECIFIC GRAVITY 0.9 WATER SOLUBILITY Solvent is miscible.  VOLATILE CONTENT BY WEIGHT <75% STABILITY & REACTIVITY Avoid contact or storage with oxidising agents (peroxides, nitrates, etc).  TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION Irritating the eyes and respiratory tract may cause systemic effects: narcosis, nausea, headaches and vomiting.  It may be absorbed through the skin, causing systemic effects.
